Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge

On Friday 31st may David completed the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge. It was the 16th time David has completed the challenge!!

The Yorkshire 3 peaks is a 24 miles round trip, which includes 1585 m of ascent. You must climb Pen-y-ghent (694 meters), Whernside (736 meters) and Ingleborough (723 meters) in under 12 hours.  Thousands of people complete it each year.

David completed it solo and said

“I got really lucky with the weather and it was great to see so many young people out doing the challenge. Everyone was chatty and in good spirits, I started to feel it in my knees coming down Whernside and the last push up Ingleborough was mentally challenging but I just put my head down and cracked on. its always a massive feeling of achievement when you get back to the start point. ”

Davids time was 8 hours 17 minutes and he completed it the traditional route starting at Horton in Ribblesdale and climbing Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and then Ingleborough before the long slog back to the start point.
