Biography of David
David, who grew up in the North East, began his career in the care industry at the age of 18. He’s held a variety of roles, from care assistant and senior carer to care coordinator, manager, and registered manager.
His experience spans different care settings, including residential and nursing homes, secure units for people with mental health needs (EMI), and a home care company. Throughout his career, David has earned numerous qualifications in care and teaching, including a BA (Hons) in Education & Training, a Certificate in Education, Qualified Teacher Learning Status (QTLS), an A1 Assessor award, and a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management. He’s also completed specialised training in various health and social care areas.
From 2004, David managed a care service that consistently received “Good” ratings from the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) and later the Care Quality Commission (CQC). From 2017, the service continuously achieved an “Outstanding” rating for being caring.
In 2009, David’s peers and the University of Huddersfield recognised his work by awarding him “The most inspirational teacher” for his work on integrating reflective practice into the Health and Social Care, National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) framework.
Philosophy of Proactive Health and Social care
We are passionate about promoting care as a career. David often reflects that he has been fortunate to have opportunities and a supportive manager who helped him progress professionally and personally. This is why Proactive Health and social Care’s main vision is to “ promote forward thinking in health and social care” by giving people the opportunities to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to succeed, just as David had.
David is originally from the North East and one of the most famous sayings is ‘Shy bairns get nowt’. Which translates as ‘if you don’t ask, you don’t know what’s available to you’. We like to apply this philosophy to the services Proactive Health and Social Care can offer you…..Don’t be shy just ask!
We like to be forward thinking; we like to find solutions for people.
Why Us
- All of our training courses are created from learning objectives and standards set by recognised leading bodies in the health and social care industry such as: The Care Quality Commission (CQC), Skills For Care and the National Institute for Social Care Excellence (NICE)
- We are very passionate about incorporating practical elements to the training courses to give learners a real indication of the technical skills that carers require.
- David has over 25 years experience in the care sector, many of these were at management level so we have a good understanding of operations and compliance issues.
- We incorporate empathy based activities into the training courses so learners gain an understanding of the emotions individuals, they support, may be experiencing, as a result of having care tasks completed for them.
- We have experienced the day to day pressures carers, seniors and managers find themselves in. We can relate to a lot of issues care providers are faced with, and offer solutions, advice, and guidance.
- We offer ‘down to earth’ help and support to ensure you have staff with the right skills, knowledge, and attitudes, and help you meet regulatory requirements.
- We have supported a number of established care managers, new care managers, nominated Individuals, senior carers and personal assistants with compliance and regulatory issues.
- We have up to date DBS on the update service that can be checked prior to any training, mentoring or support being provided.
- The training courses have consistent positive feedback from learners. We have a ‘one day rate’ so courses can be delivered over a couple of sessions during the day to ensure different staff can attend.
- We are registered with a number of professional bodies, societies and organisations to ensure that we can keep our knowledge up to date and abide by ethical codes of conduct.
