We had a fantastic day delivering a bespoke one day training course to five community carers from a domiciliary care company in West Yorkshire on Tuesday 26th November 2024.
We started the day with Basic Life Support, which covered infection control, how to manage a situation, primary survey, secondary survey, recovery position, CPR, use of an automated external defibrillator and finally how to support a casualty who was choking.
In the afternoon we delivered an Assisting and Moving people course, this covered current legislation and guidance, risk assessment, anatomy & physiology, how to assist a person to stand and walk, use of a standing aid, use of a slide board, use of a mobile hoist, use of a variety of different slings, use of a slide sheet and finally emergency evacuation plans for vulnerable people.
